Derek Rury currently serves as a postdoctoral researcher at the Harris School of Public Policy, actively collaborating with the Behavioral Insights and Parenting Lab. Derek’s research delves into the economics of education, with a specific emphasis on unraveling the impact of students’ beliefs on their educational choices and subsequent outcomes. His investigations also extend to analyzing the labor market repercussions stemming from these decisions, along with an exploration of how educational institutions mold students’ cognitive patterns and behavior. Derek’s academic journey culminated in a PhD in economics from the University of California at Davis in 2021.
