Troy Rule
Bio
Troy A. Rule is a professor of law at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. His teaching duties include courses on Property Law, Secured Transactions, Energy Law & Policy, and the Sustainability Law Research Seminar.
Before joining the academic community, Rule practiced as an attorney at K&L Gates LLP in Seattle, where his practice concentrated on commercial real estate transactions and wind energy development. He focuses his research on new property law topics related to wind energy, solar energy, domestic drones, and other emerging technologies. Rule authored Solar, Wind and Land: Conflicts in Renewable Energy Development and Renewable Energy: Law, Policy and Practice and has worked on renewable energy policy research initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Defense.
He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 2005, where he served as a John M. Olin Student Fellow in Law and Economics and participated in the Chicago Journal of International Law.
Professor Rule has contributed academic research to prominent journals such as the UCLA Law Review, Washington University Law Review, and Boston University Law Review. Additionally, his op-eds on legal and policy topics have been featured in newspapers like the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and others across the United States.
