Juan Miguel Gallego Acevedo
Bio
Juan Miguel has a doctorate from the Toulouse School of Economics (France) and a master’s degree in mathematical economics and Econometrics from the same university. He has a master’s degree in economics from the Universidad del Rosario and is an economist from the University of Antioquia.
He has more than 20 years of research experience in development, labor economics, and innovation issues. He has been the principal investigator of different projects financed by the European Union, IDRC-Canada, IDB, the World Bank, and CAF, among others. He has written various books and research articles around social issues, productive development, and innovation.
He has served as a full professor at the Faculty of Economics at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, and before taking on the challenge of deputy director general of the DNP, he served as director of research and innovation at the same university.
Gallego assumed the deputy directorship with the main objective of carrying out the National Development Plan 2022–2026, ‘Colombia: The World Power of Life’, an achievement conceived through dialogue with citizens and the government.
